Nowadays, we have Facebook and YouTube as the most significant pillars of gamers' social platforms. Across these social platforms, gamerswatched social video 43 percent longer than other audiences.
Businesses are neglecting them
However, businesses are still neglecting them. A study has shown that about 33 percent of gamers think that businesses don't care about them. Moreover, about 55 percent of them say that businesses try to sell irrelevant services and products to them.
We have a recent report from Media Chain of The Social Chain Group on the attitude of gamers toward businesses. According to its Gaming the System study, 33 percent of them think that businesses just don't comprehend the gaming culture while about 50 percent of them think businesses are trying to use "generic gaming language" in communication with them.
To come up with this data, the team has gathered primary plus secondary interviews and data from 2,027 gamers on social-first communities of Media Chain in the first six months of 2019.
The behavior of gamers on social platforms
This survey shows that over 30 percent of gamers turn to social media to comment on their new purchases as well as leave reviews about products. They also discuss their purchases online, and about 57 percent of them answer that they look for alternative opinions before decide to buy. Moreover, 58 percent also look out for memes on social, and 33 percent using social media on a second screen while they are gaming. And around 78 percent say that video channels and social media are the main sources of their gaming news.
However, they do not like marketing that affects their experience. Around 62 percent of younger game players say that they use some kind of ads blocker but 58 percent of them want businesses to support gaming series and gaming content that they like.
