More Apple Users Are Switching From iPhones to Samsung

As reported by BankMyCell, Apple users have a tendency to replace their iPhones with Android ones, especially those from Samsung.

As reported by BankMyCell, Apple users tend to replace their iPhones with Android ones, especially from Samsung. In June 2019, the site reported that approximately 18 percent of iPhone owners were ditching their smartphones for another device from Samsung.

When considering replacing an old phone, the number of Apple users staying loyal to iPhones is steadily decreasing. Instead, they are changing to Android phones, and the most common brand is Samsung.

The number of Apple users staying loyal to iPhones is steadily decreasing.

BankMyCell is a device trade-in site which is “dedicated to getting you the best deal when you trade-in and sell your old cell phone”. This site has collected data about the new phone people own during the valuating and the trade-in process of their previous iPhones. It basically allows users to sell their old phones and get a new one.

As stated in a report by CNET, BankMyCell revealed a recent figure of 18.1 percent of iPhone owners were replacing their devices for ones from Samsung in June. This is considered to be the highest rate that has ever existed. As a result of this replacement, iPhone retention in 2019 has decreased 15.2 percent in contrast to that in March 2018.

In order to measure Apple's brand loyalty during the valuation and trade-in cycle, BankMyCell has gathered data from more than 38,000 people who traded in their iPhones since October last year.

On the other hand, the amount of people who repeatedly chose to use Samsung is significantly increasing.

According to BankMyCell’s report, only 7.7 percent of Samsung Galaxy S9 owners replaced their old phones with an iPhone and the remaining 92.3 percent chose to keep on using the Android phones (Android Operating System - Android OS). Meanwhile, 26 percent of those surveyed have exchanged their iPhone X for a new one from other brands such as Samsung, Google, and Motorola.
