It seems that they detected the existence of esports via the computer classes and decided to challenge other players in this race. Their favorite mobile game is Speed Drifters.

Esports tournaments have been widely held in the whole world and gained much interest from both pro and amateur gamers. In these competitions, they can boast about their excellent skills, as well as earn many valuable prize money.

The champions came from an educational institution called Balee Sathit Suksa.

Participants of such competitions now include monks. How surprising it is! And the event in Thailand is a typical example. In a recent esports tournament, the championship belonged to a monk team. World of Fun reported that they are seniors from an educational institution called Balee Sathit Suksa. Their responsibility is to train monks.

Back to the esports tournament, it took place at Nong Khai campus, Khon Kaen Univeristy. Kokkiad Chaisamchareonlap, now serving as the head monk and academic coordinator of this school, said that:

It takes these young monks 20 hours per week to study Buddhism. In addition, they also get knowledge concerning secular education, like computer science.

It was important for these young monks to do as they like.

It seems that they detected the existence of esports via the computer classes and decided to challenge other players in this race. Their favorite mobile game is Speed Drifters, and therefore, it came as no surprise that they grasped a chance with it.

However, their achievement also got a lot of conflicting ideas. Some gave praise to what they did while others felt unhappy when seeing the kids with saffron robes appear on the awards podium. They referred to it as ‘inappropriate.’

Kokkiad didn’t obviously agree with the above notion. It was important for these young monks to do as they like. He said:

In addition to Balee Sathit Suksa, there were many other monk schools to send their students to take part in this competition.
