Drone Owners To Register Their Vehicles Before Jan 31 Or Face Strict Penalties

A strict notification has been issued for all non-registered drone owners to have their drones registered before January 31 or face strict penalties.

It is not easy to own an unmanned aerial vehicle in India. Because of security problems, for those who want to fly a drone in the country, they would have to go through a registration process as well as following a set of regulations and rules set by the Ministry of Aviation.

However, it seems like there are many people who haven’t been following the rules and have been flying their drones without registering them. And they have caught the attention of the authorities. A strict notification has been issued for all non-registered owners to have their drones registered before January 31 or face strict penalties.

A strict notification has been issued for all non-registered drone owners to have their drones registered before January 31 or face strict penalties.

In an official press release, the ministry wrote that the Government of India had noticed the operation of non-registered drones, which wasn’t aligned with the CAR. If drones were operated without the permission, the drone owners had violated the CAR. The deadline for drone owners to submit the required information is January 31st, 2020.

In order to have their drones registered, drone owners need to remember two important things: a Drone Acknowledgement Number or DAN or an Ownership Acknowledgement Number or OAN. To complete the registration, they have to go to the Digital Sky website. Then click the registration tab.

After adding all the necessary documents and finished the registration process, you will receive the OAN. The required documents include the Aadhaar card, passport, etc.

Drown owners also need to take photos of their drones from all angles as well as close-up images of the serial numbers. The vehicles have to be placed next to a physical measuring scale to visualize their dimensions.

Once registered, drone owners will use the OAN that they receive and generate DAN. For owners who have several drones, each drone will have a DAN number but all under the same OAN.

Flying a drone is used to be prohibited in India but the rules have been changed starting from December 2018. You can now start investing in these devices and take breathtaking shots and shooting awesome videos. But remember to register your unmanned aerial vehicle before January 31st, 2020.
