The story of the shiny metal monolith standing alone in the desert of Utah hasn’t come to an end yet.

Earlier last week, a group of employees from the Department of Public Safety of Utah discovered a strange block of metal in a canyon in the Utah desert. Although they have tried to conceal it, only a day later, its location was tracked by the online community through pictures uploaded by the State of Utah.

The story is thought to have come to an end. But in a sudden turn of events, the monolith suddenly disappeared, just as quickly as it appeared on the Internet. The information was posted on the Facebook account of the Land Administration of Utah.

The authority said that it received reports that a person or a group had come to remove the metal monolith on the night of November 27. They added that they did not intend to remove this “foreign object” even though it had been installed illegally.

In addition, they also stated that they had no intention of investigating who had removed the metal monolith since it was a private asset. That should be the job of the police department.

Besides this monolith in the Utah desert, there are two other metal blocks. One appeared atop Pine Mountain in Atascadero town, on the Central California coast while one was discovered on Batca Doamnei Hill in Piatra Neamt, northern Romania.
