Man Spending 50Hrs At An Internet Cafe Was Actually Paralyzed By Stroke

A Chinese man was recently hospitalized with a stroke after the staff at a local internet cafe noticed that he hadn’t got up from his seat in 50 hours.

Recently, a 42-year-old man from Shenzen, China was admitted into hospital after the staff working at an internet cafe in the region became aware that he hadn’t stood up from his seat for 50 hours.

The CCTV footage showed that the unnamed man came to the internet cafe on March 31st morning. After that, he didn’t get up from his chair once for 50 hours. It was not until April 2nd evening that the cafe staff checked the CCTV cameras and realized he had been sitting there for more than two days.

Sedentary Stroke

They discovered that the man was paralyzed when they came to check on him. He was unable to speak and suffered from incontinence. They took him to the hospital right after that.

By the time they reached the Longhua District People’s Hospital, the man was hardly conscious. Also, he couldn’t move his right side of the body.

Doctors diagnosed him with a stroke. It is not clear about the time the stroke happened. However, after viewing the CCTV footage from the police, doctors came to the conclusion that it must have occurred at least one day before the man was taken to the hospital.

In the security camera video, the man can be seen sitting in the exact same position in his chair, with his left hand on his temple for around 24 hours. The footage indicates that he was left there paralyzed long before the staff noticed that there was something strange about him.

The doctors who are in charge of his case said that only if he had been admitted to the hospital in 3 to 6 hours after he suffered the stroke, much of his brain damage could have been prevented with interventional surgery or thrombolysis. The man is still recovering, but it isn’t clear whether he will have to live with permanent brain damage.

According to doctors, strokes can be caused by sitting down for too long and lacking sleep.
