They are known to be the force that enforces the lockdown order in India with long hours spending outside, talking sense to those violating lockdown orders and chasing vehicles.
Their work is tiresome and they are constantly under pressure, but Kerala police, with a video they shared recently, show us that they can see the funny side of this lengthy lockdown too.
The state’s police shared on Twitter a doctored video recorded by drones and it is absolutely hilarious. The video makes up of individual footage showing people running for cover when they noticed a drone was approaching.
The speed is twice as fast as usual to add some comic effect and we can see men running through sandy beaches, paddy fields, and coconut groves to escape the camera while some others hide behind trees.
However, half of the funniness of the video would be lost without the background audio of Ravi Shastri and his #tracerbulletchallenge.
The clip has the voices of Sunil Gavaskar, Ian “Beefy” Botham, and Sanjay Manjrekar and some others when they took on the challenge.
And these people have reasons to run as Kerala Police has arrested 25,125 people, filed 2.5 lakh cases, and seized 17,375 vehicles for violating the lockdown order.
The drones prove to be especially useful in rural areas and along the coasts where the police can hardly reach quickly enough. Some of the unmanned aircraft also have sirens and recorded messages telling people to stay inside unless they have good enough reasons to go out.
What Kerala police force did in the last few weeks have gone beyond their duty. They have helped to get patients to hospitals, getting medicines for those in need, and supporting community kitchen to feed the poor.
