PUBG or PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has made headlines recently. We have seen it all, from people getting into an accident while playing, schools banning it, to people being arrested because of it. However, this latest situation is the most remarkable one, in a funny way.
New Indian Express reported that a boy who was taking his pre-university exam failed after he only wrote in his Economics answer sheet ‘How to play PUBG game.’
Last year, the student received distinction for his SSLC (or better known as Secondary School Leaving Certificate) exam. However, his addition to PUBG has thrown away his concentration for studying.
Varun, the main figure in the report, did admit that he was so immersed in video games to the point that he completely forgot about his approaching exams.
Whenever his parents discussed his video game addition, he lied to them saying he was only chatting.
Varun said in an interview with the New Indian Express:
Not until two weeks prior to the exams did he realize his exams were coming close. But it was too late for him to study and prepare for them.
After this incident, Varun stopped playing PUBG but unfortunately, he could not get through his pre-university exams.
This week, we reported on how two boys from Mumbai built an effigy of PUBG to set it on fire to protest about the game's bad influence on the young generation. Also this week, we wrote about two men who got into a train accident while playing this addictive game.
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has proposed a ban on the game on a national scale, stating its adverse-effects on students.
