As the world has more than 4 million cases of COVID-19 and enters the fifth month in the battle against the pandemic. Researchers are racing to find a suitable vaccine to quickly put the disease under control. And among the vaccines, there are several potential ones.
And now, news agency ANSA from Italy reports that a firm named Takis from the country has successfully developed the fist COVID-19 vaccine with antibodies generated in mice. The news agency claims that the vaccine would work on humans.

The vaccine has been put under tests in the Spallanzani Hospital in Rome, according to ANSA. The total number of positive cases in the country has reached 213,000. Over 85,000 cases have already recovered while 29,000 didn’t make it.
The report quotes Luigi Auriscchio, Takis’ CEO, stating the vaccine has been able to neutralize the SARS-CoV-2 virus in human cells.
Italian researchers are feeling optimistic about Takis’ claim, saying the results are beyond expectation and encouraging.
As per the claim of the CEO, Takis is the world’s first company to successfully neutralize SARS-CoV-2 using a potential vaccine.
Explaining the process of developing the antibody, Luigi Auriscchi says that the antibodies developed by the experimental mice can prevent the virus from harming human cells.
He also adds that this is the most advanced testing stage that a vaccine developed in Italy has reached. After summer, large scale human trials will be carried out.
Takis is seeking partnership with LineaRx, a drug company from America, to further develop the vaccine formula.
This isn’t the first neutralizing COVID-19 vaccine that has been announced. This week, Israeli researchers have also developed an antibody that could do the same on the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Of course, these potential vaccines are raising hope during this time of crisis even when WHO warns that there may never be a 100% foolproof COVID-19 vaccine, just like dengue and HIV. Because viruses are mutating, there has been evidence suggesting that the SARS-CoV-2 virus has muted into a new strain that is even more contagious.

Serum India Institute, the largest manufacturer of vaccine doses in the world is getting ready to test a COVID-19 vaccine from Oxford University.
