As lockdown orders have been lifted, businesses need to come up with alternatives to protect their clients as well as their staff from the COVID-19 virus.
Several restaurants in Italy are switching from using traditional paper menus to contactless QR code system.
Stefano Pratti, a 53-year-old local just went out to have a plate of carbonara last week at Da Enzo, a restaurant in the Trastevere neighborhood, Rome.
He also expressed his excitement for being able to go out after two-and-a-half-month of self-isolation.
Even older customers are adapting to the changes. 37-year-old Maria Chiara Di Felice, a restaurant owner said that the customers were surprised at first and were afraid that they couldn’t use it. But once they realized how easy it was to use the system, they were happy.
Chefs put on their safety goggles, masks, and gloves while preparing all the dishes that the customers order.
Restaurants have reduced the number of tables by 50%. The tables are re-arranged to be one meter apart, at least. After the customers leave, the staff will disinfect all tables and chairs.
The Chennai Mero rail has also introduced a similar contactless safety measure with elevators that are operated using your foot. The idea which has first been implemented in the Koyambedu CMRL Admin Building is likely to be installed at metro stations around the city.
