According to research published by McKinsey, India has recently passed the previous leader, China and become the leading internet market in the world.
Latest data shows that Indian people spend the most time in the world participating in online activities. It is almost considered as a social addiction. As of September last year, the online trend of people in India has about 560 million internet subscribers and is expected to continue to grow strongly until 2025.
McKinsey has released a report that compares the figures that keep the two leading countries in online charges, China and India. These two countries still have a long way to penetrate the internet.
Indians now spent more time to use online social networks than the Chinese in 2018. We spend up to 17 hours per week to access Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and many others. This can be considered as a new world record because it's actually the highest number in the world at present. It's safe to say that the reason is due to the emergence of affordable Android smartphones and cheap 4G data access fees.
In 2018, although India ranked first in terms of social network usage, India still ranked second after China in terms of downloading applications to mobile phones. Indians have downloaded 12.3 billion applications within a year.
Around the world, our country is second only to Indonesia in the process of applying and developing digital technology on a national scale. It can be said that this is a proud achievement because the language and population of India are a little bit more complicated than Indonesia.
This report shows a fairly optimistic future about the development of digital in India and the growth in online of every Indian citizen. Empowering fresh online initiatives and digital businesses is essential in building a solid foundation for India to become a digitally connected and successfully developed country.
