Indian Student Invents “ElectroShoe” For Women To Electrocute Attackers

Harin

After witnessing many incidents of violence against women, an Indian boy invented "ElectroShoe" to help women defend themselves against attackers.

In India, sexual assault is a major problem, as not a day goes by without a case making headlines. Until Indian authorities take serious measures, an 18-year-old boy is trying to contribute his effort in helping women defend themselves against attackers. After witnessing numerous disturbing instances of violence against women and attending several protests demanding change with his mother, Siddharth Mandala, who lives in Telengana, decided he needed to take action himself. It takes years for him to create the “ElectroShoe.”

This is anti-sexual assault footwear which electrocutes attackers. While sending alert to the police enforcement and the victim’s family members, the footwear also inflicts 0.1 Ampe of electricity. To activate the footwear, the wearer only needs to kick the perpetrator.

Siddharth said:

Although he doesn’t own any degree in science or technology, Siddharth attempted to make the shoe by himself. However, after being electrocuted several times, he decided to seek professional help. For a few years, he contacted engineers and programmers, both offline and online, so that he could get the answer. After a while, some of them stopped responding to his questions.

But a viable version finally came after 17 failed prototypes.

He said:

The ElectroShoe is still under development and not yet ready for the market. Siddharth is still working on some details. He also needs to figure out how to transform the invention into shoe styles instead of flip flops.

But a patent for the shoes has already been filed, and Siddharth plans to put it on sale soon.

At the moment, Siddharth is enthusiastic about getting an education and a job in technology and science so that he can keep making innovative crime-prevention products. He is also an activist and has his own NGO to raise people’s awareness about sexual assault. He also volunteers to teach children about basic coding. He is truly an inspiring figure that brings hope for Indian women.
