According to a recent survey, around 77 percent of consumers in India believe that businesses are collecting too much information about them. Plus, 74 percent said that they are against using technology for shopping patterns analyzing.
Verint Systems's survey on Indian customers
Verint Systems has conducted a survey on 34,000 consumers from 18 countries. The results suggest that this Internet era has caused an explosion of customer engagement data on digital channels. According to the statement of Verint, over 2000 consumers in India have joined the research to show their assessment on various issues such as data privacy, data breach, and using technology to analyze people shopping patterns.
Also, from the statement, about 77 percent of respondents think that businesses are collecting too much information about them. Meanwhile,74 percent of respondents responded it is kinda "creepy" to use tech to analyze their shopping preferences and patterns.
From eighteen countries that the survey was conducted in, India takes the lead with 73 percent of respondents voted for actively avoiding products of businesses that use technology to track and analyze their engagement patterns.
And around 75% of surveyed Indian customers agreed that providers could not do a lot to prevent a data breach. However, most of them would not be buying from a brand that already suffered a data breach. But, this survey also noted that to get customized services and discounts, Indian customers are very willing to share their information.

Anil Chawla (Customer Engagement Solutions' managing director ) has commented on this matter. He said that in this age of data's democratization, organizations and companies need to fulfill the data privacy standards by syncing up their teams, technology, and processes. They must also support a compliance culture. And to accomplish that it is important for them to maintain proper data security and always be transparent with their data collection.
