The US armed force has long been the most powerful in the world, which is not exactly a surprise, followed by Russia and China. India is hot on its heels with the fourth spot right above France. The ranking was based on 55 factors, including the possession of nuclear weapons, financial situation, industrial capacities, natural resources, and whether they are part of NATO.
United States

The United States Armed Force is made up of the Marine Corps, Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, and Navy. The Command-in-chief is the president of the United States. The Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security are in charge of forming military policies. The five armed services are among the seven uniformed services of the country.
Russia

Russia Armed Force was established after the Soviet Union dissolved. In 1992, the Russian Ministry of Defense was set up, and all of Soviet Armed Forces were placed under Russian control. The president of Russia is the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces. Russia is the world’s second largest military power and also the second largest exporter of arms.
China

The Chinese People’s Liberation Army belongs to the People Republic of China and the Communist Party of China. It is made up of five professional services, Navy, Air Force, Strategic Support Force, Ground Force, and the Rocket Force. Based on their locations, units are assigned to five theater commands.
The PLA is the largest in the world, and it also has the second largest budget. It has the potential to become the next superpower, thanks to the fast advancement in military technology. China is the world’s third-largest arms exporter.
India

The Indian Armed Force consists of three services, the Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, and Indian Army. They also have support from the Indian Coast Guard, Special Frontier Force, and the Assam Rifles, along with several other institutions and inter-service commands.
The Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces is the president of India. The Government of India and the Ministry of Defense are in charge of managing the force. It also has the world’s second largest volunteer army.
France

The French Armed Force consists of the Navy, the National Guard, the Gendarmerie of the French Republic, and the Army. The head of the force is the president of France.
The country has the largest budget for the military in the European Union and ranks fifth in the world. When it comes to size, the country also gets the top spot in the EU. With its nuclear deterrent, France gains the third position after the U.S and Russia.
