Just like other countries, India is still in its ongoing fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. And amid lockdown, the Indian postal department has turned into a lifesaver, delivering medical essentials to different destinations around the country.

In India, people are familiar with the red postal vans. Every day, thousands of journeys are made. The staff travel through the wide network of post offices across 600,000 villages in the country.

During the nationwide lockdown, the vans have become the means of transport to reach faraway locations when flights and trains aren’t in operation.

In one of the country’s toughest times, the Indian postal department has helped to deliver medical equipment as well as medicines to places that are in need. Not only that, but the department also has to ensure that the beneficiaries receive government benefits.

In order to help those who need cash during this time, the Kerala government and the postal department have partnered to deliver cash at people’s doorsteps.

To make sure that there is sufficient cash flow, the Indian postal office in Kashmir and Jammu has helped with financial transactions so that people can deposit and withdraw funds easily.
