While the website of IRCTC has improved in the last few years, there are still so many better online rail ticket booking apps. Maybe that what was on the mind of S Yuvarajaa who is an IIT Kharagpur graduate. But now the rail ticketing apps that he built for Android phones have landed him in jail.
According to a report from TOI, Tirupur native S Yuvarajaa developed two railway ticket booking apps called “Super Tatkal” and “Super Tatkal Pro.”
Reports state that he is accused of bypassing the ticket booking system of IRCTC with his online platform where customers will pay through a coin-based system for train tickets.
Yuvarajaa created the online ticket booking apps back in 2016. After that, both apps became extremely popular. But the apps have already been removed from the Google Play store.
Using several source code, end-users list, application source code, and bank statements, the Cyber Cell of Railway Protection Force in Chennai was able to track Yuvarajaa.
The case of Yuvarajaa was registered under the Railways Act stating that bypassing the railway system to make money illegally was considered to be a crime.
Some officials said that those faster online ticket booking apps took away other people’s chances to buy tickets on the website of IRCTC.
