If You Catch COVID-19 In-Flight, Your Funeral Costs Will Be Covered

For those who like to travel, this year hasn’t been going well. With the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, countries have had to closed borders and banned traveling for months. The pandemic has sure hit the tourism industry hard. Now that people have become tired of staying inside their houses, countries, hoteliers, airlines are trying different things to encourage people to travel again.

To convince passengers who are still worrying about flying, airports and airlines have been adopting several methods, from health checks at terminals to leaving the middle seats empty. This airline has taken things to a whole new level with its new policy. Emirates has officially announced that a free funeral will be covered in its coronavirus travel insurance.
The policy from the biggest long-haul carrier in the world indicates that is any of its passengers becomes infected with COVID-19 in-flight, the passenger’s medical expenses which can cost up to $177,127 will be covered. Quarantine costs ($118 per day) will also be paid by the airline in up to two weeks. And last but not least, in case it is the last trip of a passenger, the Dubai-based airlines will be willing to offer $1,771 for the funeral of the passenger. The insurance doesn’t require passengers to sign any extra documents or pay any fees. It will be effective immediately after a ticket is purchased.

This policy of Emirate is valid until the end of October. The moment you step foot inside the aircraft, it is valid for 31 days.
Just a few weeks ago, Tim Clarke, Emirates’ president announced that it had to cut 9,000 jobs. Bloomberg’s calculations suggested that about 400,000 airline workers globally would have to leave their positions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
