Indian energy giants are making efforts in setting up charging infrastructure. On February 27 inaugurated its first EV charging station in Gujarat.

As the Indian government is encouraging its citizens to shift to using electric vehicles, energy giants are making efforts in setting up charging infrastructure. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd is also taking part in the movement. The latest example is the company set up its first charging station in Gujarat.
The charging station was inaugurated on February 27 and located at the Karelibag area, Vadodara. The inauguration saw the participation of HPCL Director Rakesh Misri. He talked about the future endeavors of the company in the direction. Hindustan Petroleum will install more EV charging stations at different locations around the country.
All EVs can use the one in Vadodara, from two-wheelers to three-wheelers and four-wheelers.
The goal is to provide EV users with more charging options. With ample charging locations, users won’t have to worry about finding a place to charge their vehicles, encouraging people to shift to environment-friendly vehicles for their daily commute.
This isn’t the first time for an oil company to set its eye on EV charging infrastructure. NTPC had also partnered with Indian Oil to launch its first EV charging station in September last year. The facility is in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh.
In June last year, BSES set up in Delhi its first charging station for EVs, among 150 stations installed around the capital. EESL and Noida authorities worked together to build the first charging station of the city in July 2019. The goal of the Heavy Industries Ministry is to set up 1000 charging stations around the country.
As more and more people in the country are using electric vehicles, the corresponding infrastructure will surely see a rise.
