According to The Star, the hacker found a way to hack the surveillance camera system at a prison in Thailand and live-stream the content right on YouTube.
The situation is like another episode of the famous series Prison Break. No one knew about the live-streamed content until the authority received a warning from a journalist who accidentally watched the footage on YouTube.
Specifically, a YouTube channel called BigBrother’s Gaze, live-streamed the activities of the prisoners inside the prison for hours on YouTube. In the video, you can see different angles, which means the hacker had access to the whole camera system.

Sharing with the media, Thailand authorities said that the hacked prison was the Lang Suan prison from Chumphon. After investigating, the authorities discovered that the hacker wasn’t from Thailand. Not much information about the case was revealed. We don’t know how the hacker was able to access the surveillance system.
General Narat Sawettanan from the Corrections Department said that right after they were informed, the officials at the prison responded promptly by turning off the system.
An investigation is being carried out. At the moment, the video has been removed from YouTube. But in the channel’s description, the owner said that the livestreamed content was not due to a system attack. Rather than that, it was shared from a secret source. This person also advised people to change their default password when setting up a surveillance camera.
In this channel, there are other videos taking from surveillance cameras showing a Thailand company’s office or the streets of Salt Lake, Utah, the US.
The YouTube channel that uploaded the footage inside the prison was only registered on October 26. At the moment, it has around 1,700 subscribers.
