Engineering Level 100: This Guy Made A Piano With Sausages And Plays Music On It

Do you think we can turn food into a musical instrument? If your answer is no, this engineer will change your mind because he made a piano using sausages.

Do you think we can turn food into a musical instrument? If your answer is no, this engineer will change your mind because he made a piano using sausages.

Hacker Patrick, a German engineer, named his new instrument “Bockwurstklavier.” He made it up of 10 Bockwurst sausages by connecting them to a computer to make them sound like piano keys.

The new musical instrument is called Bockwurstklavier

He posted a video of his creation along with a description that says “This is just a quick test of my brand new Bockwurst piano,” in which he played music on the sausages.

While the video came online last year, it has truly gained attention recently. As you can see in the video, Patrick hooked the sausages up to several wires connected to sound equipment, which turned them into a functional keyboard.

When Patrick touched a sausage of the keyboard while also touching another component of the equipment, a real piano sound is generated. Most importantly, the keys work well together as they do individually, meaning he can use this keyboard to play chords and real music.

There have been several debates over if he faked the whole thing by playing a dubbed audio track and propping wires, but it appears that he was actually playing the sausage keys like a real musician.

It seems that Patrick has tech the relation between food and technology much further than when we used to run a clock with a potato.
