A mom from Florida has got a great shock when realizing that some YouTube videos destined for children are teaching them how to suicide.
According to Free Hess, she suddenly watched a cartoon on a channel called YouTube Kids showing a man who instructed children the necessary steps to cut their wrists. The channel reportedly belongs to Google and is known as a version for families.
In the video, the man gave the specific instructions by hand signals on his wrist, aiming to teach children how to “get results.”
Although Hess required YouTube to remove the clip, she has now detected that it reappeared on the video-sharing platform. This time, the clip was inserted in the mid-cartoon.
The mom said even when a lot of comments flagged up the content as a harmful one, it has been still available on YouTube.
That’s not all of the stories. According to research, YouTube is now featuring many other dangerous videos concerning the suicide issue. For example, in one video, after breaking up with her boyfriend, a girl put an end to her life.
In another video, a young girl tried to suicide by hanging herself. The whole process was described by graphic images.
The mom said that the snippet relating to the terrible “instructions” was inserted at 4 minutes and 45 seconds into a video that lasts 7 minutes.
The next video has been now removed with a message saying that “this video has been removed for violating YouTube's Terms of Service.”
