Many high-profile Twitch streamers are changing their direction to a company's rivalry platform - Facebook. Jeremy “Disguised Toast” Wang, the streamer who is famous for broadcasting his gameplays of Apex Legends, Hearthstone, and League of Legends, could be taken as a telling example. Now, his live-streaming sessions will be made exclusively on Facebook instead of being found on Youtube and other websites.
The broadcaster revealed to CNN Business the fact that every main streaming website had invited him; however, he decided to use Facebook for its promising future of expansion. There were plenty of factors leading to this trend, not to mention a secret amount of cash that was thought to be outplay most of which other platforms offer.
At present, although Disguised Toast’s reputation is still smaller than Ninja’s or Shroud’s, his decision is thought to have a negative impact on Twitch’s income. It can be explained by the fact that he not only had a great number of followers (approximately 1.3 million) but he was in the top 40 of the most-watched Twitch streamers in 2019. Together with other well-known streamers, Disguised Toast is potentially making a huge profit for Facebook in the near future.
It is an undeniable fact that Facebook’s streaming channel, compared to Twitch’s, still has a less influential position. However, CEO and co-founder of StreamElements - Doron Nir - believed in the great success of the social networking site even when it does not directly compete with a veteran like Twitch. There are plenty of businesses that are similar to TV streaming have been in striking development. Proudly to be one of them, Facebook has been also on its way of upgrading when its opponents still have to deal with a myriad of dilemmas and threats. Regarding Facebook’s potential, in order to achieve its goal and more, perhaps it will need to attract a considerably large number of followers by top-famous streamers.
