Masks are now an inseparable accessory when people leave their houses. With the COVID-19 pandemic attacking many countries, killing lives, a face mask has become one of the best ways to protect everyone from getting infected with the coronavirus. Regardless of how uncomfortable to wear it, the mask prevents infected droplets from a person from touching another.
However, there are still many people refusing to put on a mask just because they “can’t breathe.” To fix this problem, inventor Allen Pan has created a machine that underlines the importance of wearing masks. He has made a mask launcher. In his video, Pan said:
“It feels like people just aren't wearing masks. And they should be! (...) So what are we going to do about it? What am I going to do about it? Well, I could make a fun educational video about how safe and effective masks are like a flamethrower on the mouth and a mask. No! No! There are so many smart people that have made good videos. If that worked, it would have worked by now.”
This invention is a bit strange, it’s like a gun to shoot right at your face. It fires a face mask toward the targeted face, which results in the mask put in place. As the mask can become dangerous when it’s launched at a high speed, Pan first tried the mask launcher on multiple dummies. He was happy that it actually worked.
His mask launcher consists of a pneumatic system powered by a CO2 canister that’s hooked up to a solenoid fired using the trigger. The machine also comes with a special mask with magnets attached at the end of its strings. It shoots the mask toward the target’s face and the weight magnets stick together to wrap around the back of the target’s neck.
The invention is smart and clearly demonstrates that everyone must wear a mask though we won’t likely see it in real life soon.
