The ambition of X Shore is to become the Tesla of the seas and they don’t hesitate to say it. Interestingly, their name is like a sea-themed equivalent to the space-focused venture of Elon Musk.

But, they are not just a copy of the well-known electric road vehicles.
When compared with car emissions and aviation, the carbon footprint of the shipping industry is often overlooked. This year’s report suggested the amount of air pollution and greenhouse gases emitted by Sweden’s shipping industry is even higher than that of the country’s domestic aviation.
Therefore, in order to deal with this problem, X Shore introduced the Eelex, which is a 100% electric boat equipped with hydrodynamic drivetrain modularity as well as Rolls-Royce propellors. This means that the manufacturer can safely repurpose pieces to different specifications.
Besides addressing the emissions issue, with Eelex, travelers can have a more relaxing experience on the sea. With an innovative propulsion system, the yachts can glide with relatively no noise on the sea surface.
The idea actually is based on the nautical expeditions of the founder Konrad Bergström.
In an interview with Forbes, he said:

Attracting further comparison with Elon Musk’s Tesla, the founder of X Shore, up until now, has made an investment with his own capital to finance the electric sea vehicles. The value of the company at the moment is €50 million. X Shore is hoping that through the crowdfunding website FundedByMe, it can raise another €2.5 million.

Impressively, two of Bergström’s early ventures were sold for €1 before he founded Zound Industries, which is a company specializes in speaker and headphones. After its establishment, the company became the fastest-growing startup in Sweden.
Bergström can be seen delivering keynotes on his X Shore mission. Next month, he will participate in the Wise Punk startup event in Barcelona.
With one full charge, the Eelex can travel at a maximum distance of 100 nautical miles and a maximum speed of 40 knots. The price of this electric boat starts at €250,000. However, similar to Tesla, as production scales up, the price will get lower.
