Disney+ Hotstar Rollout In India On Hold Indefinitely

The COVID-19 outbreak has postponed one of the country’s biggest cricketing event, leading to the delayed roll-out of Disney+ Hotstar.

According to schedule, Disney+ Hotstar will make its debut in the Indian market on March 29, bringing both nostalgia and fresh content to the popular streaming service. Earlier last week, Hotstar has beta tested the Disney+ integration on its website and integration.
However, it seems like the COVID-19 outbreak has taken a toll on this rollout. The uncertain fate of the Indian Premier League 13th edition has delayed the rollout of Hotstar’s Disney+ content.
In an official statement, The Walt Disney Company APAC’s President and the Chairman of Star & Disney India, Mr. Uday Shankar said:
If you didn’t know, the COVID-19 outbreak has postponed one of the country’s biggest cricketing event. The schedule of IPL 2020 has been pushed back until April 15. After that, the government will propose new guidelines and advisory.
Originally, the tournament was scheduled to kick-off on the same day of the roll-out of Disney+ Hotstar. Here is how the new UI looks like:
So, the launch of Disney+ Hotstar in India has been pushed back indefinitely. Until the government announces the new schedule for IPL 2020, you can’t watch all of your favorite Disney, Star Wars or Marvel content. It is unclear if Hotstar Disney+ rollout will be canceled if the government decides to cancel IPL 2020 to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
