On Thursday, the Delhi government suspended biometric attendance at its offices around the capital as part of measures for limiting the spread of the coronavirus infection. In a circular, Delhi government’s deputy secretary Promila Mitra asked all Section Officers and Deputy Secretaries tp suspend biometric attendance.

In the letter, the deputy secretary said that in accordance with the letter dated March 4. 2020, from Health and Family Welfare Department, all Sections Officers and Deputy Secretaries are requested to suspend biometric attendance for all officials and officers of the departments in the interests of all the staff until further orders.
Apart from Delhi, Punjab has also suspended biometric attendance at government offices, which include the state secretariat. As a result, government employees will have to mark attendance manually.

As of now, India has had 31 confirmed cases of COVID-19. The coronavirus started in Wuhan, China, and has since spread to almost every part of the world. Since the epidemic is spreading in the country, Prime Minister Modi went on Twitter to warn people against participating in large gatherings. He specifically said that WHO advised people to avoid the crowd and that he wouldn’t join any activities in this Holi festival. However, it turned out that yesterday, a lot of people still went in the street to celebrate the Holi festival of colors.
It’s good to stay calm and optimistic at situations like this so that we won’t go insane or overreact, but always remember to take careful cautions and protect yourself and your family.
