A crisis can result in unbelievable incidents. And with a pandemic like COVID-19, which has been spreading worldwide over the past few months, we have witnessed bizarre events.
We all know that many people consider cow dung and cow urine some sort of magic, a cure for the disease, so they used to try drinking cow urine to protect themselves from the coronavirus. Even more, Indian cows’ urine is now sold for Rs 500 per liter while cow dung is priced at Rs 500 per kilogram for those who seek immunity from COVID-19.
The products and their shockingly hefty prices are revealed by a milk vendor who has set up a roadside shop where he sells cow dung and cow urine. His shop is in Dankuni, which is about 20 kilometers away from the West Bengal capital. On the table, there is a poster saying “Drink cow urine and ward off coronavirus.” To compare, the cost for a liter of cow milk is about Rs 30, making cow urine 16 times as expensive as milk.
It appears that COVID-19 has led to the creation of a whole new market for cow products. Another seller says that he can now make profits from all parts of a cow, not just milk. He sells cow urine and cow dung at a litter lower price, Rs 300 per liter, but that’s still 10 times more expensive than milk.
Since COVID-19 broke out in India, infecting over 120 people while taking 2 lives, people have been really worried and resorted to different ways to protect themselves from the pandemic. So far, there have been several stories around taking cow dung and urine. For example, early last month, Swami Chakrapani Maharaj said that eating and drink these things while chanting Om Namah Shivay will stop the impact of the coronavirus on people. In a more recent incident, Hindu Mahasabha was reported to hold a gaumutra party where people will learn about the coronavirus as well as the benefit of cow products in saving them.
