TOI reports that a 73-year-old COVID-19 patient walked out of a hospital where he was receiving treatment just to get a cup of tea. And this terrified the hospital staff as well as a nearby tea seller and his customers.
Before being admitted to Mysuru Road hospital, the patient was at another private hospital. At around 5 am, he asked the hospital for a cup of tea.
He waited until 7.30 am but the tea didn’t arrive. He got restless and decided to pull out the tubes from his arm and wrist, left his bed, and walked to a nearby tea stall outside the hospital.
As he was sipping his tea, a customer standing close to him noticed that he had a plaster on his hand and questioned him. The mand responded that he was a COVID-19 patient.
The tea seller, Narayana retold the story, saying that seven customers immediately dropped their glasses and ran away. They didn’t even pay him. The owner then had to close his stall after the incident.
He then rushed to the hospital to inform the staff about the patient. After that, the old man was taken right back to his ward.
One of the relatives of the patient blamed the hospital’s negligence for this incident. The relative said that after being transported to the hospital, his uncle had complained about his tiredness and diarrhea. The family was asked to pay Rs 25,000 for the patient’s admission and treatment.
And after his test came out to be positive for COVID-19, the family had to pay Rs 1.5 lakh.
The patient had to wait three hours inside the ambulance before being admitted. He began to have a nose bleed but the only thing that the hospital did was giving them some cotton.
After waiting endlessly, the family finally got him a bed at the Mysuru Road hospital.
