According to a new study on the Early Human Development journal, men with a long ring finger are more likely to develop milder symptoms of COVID-19 and have a lower chance of losing their lives to the pandemic.

The reason behind this claim is the belief that the length of men’s ring finger shows how much testosterone they have in their bodies. And the more testosterone, the more men are protected from illness caused by the Coronavirus. This hormone is known to increase the level of ACE2 (or angiotensin-converting enzyme 2).
There are studies looking into the reason why men are twice as likely to die from COVID-19 as women. Some hypothesis points to the concentration of ACE2, cells’ gatekeeper and receptor, which binds to the virus, allowing it to infect the body.
This explains why finger length can be a sign telling you what will become of you when you went down with COVID-19. However, it does not say men with long fingers are immune to the virus, so beware.
Some other studies reveal something even more bizarre. While a high level of ACE2 can create more entry points for the virus, it can actually protects men’s lungs from the damage the illness causes.

When the Coronavirus enters the body, it will lead to a lower level of this enzyme.
To verify this theory, experts at the Swansea University analyzed data from 200,000 people coming from 41 nations across the globe. They measured the length of participants’ ring finger and compare it with that of their index fingers.
What they found out is countries where men have longer ring finger, including Russia, Malaysia, and Mexico, have a lower COVID-19 fatality rate of 2.7 over 100,000. On the other hand, nations with the opposite result, such as Spain, the UK, and Bulgaria, the death rate is much higher, which is 4.9 per 100,000.
