COVID-19: Indian Railways Admits Blankets Aren’t Washed After Every Trip

Indian Railways announced that trains' curtains and blankets would be withdrawn since they weren’t washed every day, leading to COVID-19 spread.

As the COVID-19 has officially been declared as a pandemic, every organization is putting its efforts to prevent any further damage. But in the process of doing this, some organizations have revealed things that we have never thought about before.

How would you feel if you are told that the curtains and the blankets on the trains that you travel in don’t get washed every day and they might be full of bacteria? Some might even have a panic attack.

Curtains and blankets in trains will be withdrawn since they aren't washed every day.

And recently, the Central and Western Railways’ public relations officer posted on Twitter a public announcement stating that the curtains and blankets in trains would be withdrawn since they weren’t washed every day, leading to the spread of COVID-19.

And obviously, the public did not respond very well with this revelation even after Piyush Goyal, the Railway Minister, shared images of staff steam-cleaning and sanitizing the trains.

People started to heavily criticize the authorities. Even without the outbreak of COVID-19, it is still extremely unhygienic and unacceptable.

Either the railway corporation needs to fix this or it might be better for people to not have blankets and bedding on trains at all.

Meanwhile, according to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, hospitals, DTC and cluster buses, and Delhi Metro will be disinfected regularly to protect its citizens from Coronavirus. Preventing the spread of the virus, many state governments have shut down colleges, schools, colleges until March 31st. India also imposed stricter travel policies on foreigners as the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 as a pandemic with over 180,000 confirmed cases worldwide and more than 7,000 deaths.
