India's Silicon Valley Is Locked Down For A Week To Avoid COVID-19 Spreading

India’s Silicon Valley has been put under a total lockdown for a whole week to tackle the spread of COVID-19.

The majority of top tech firms in Bengaluru have asked their employees to work from home. As required by the government, all malls, theaters, and other populated areas must remain shut starting Saturday last week.

After a Google’s employee in Bengaluru tested positive for COVID-19, the company has asked its staff in the city to work remotely for a day as a preventative measure.

In a statement, Google said that one of its employees in Bengaluru carried the Coronavirus. The man was in the office for a few hours before showing symptoms and had been in quarantine ever since.

The company has also asked whoever came in contact with the infected employee to quarantine themselves and keep a close eye on their own health.

However, in Gurugram, Google’s employees said that they are doing business as usual. To prevent the infection of the Coronavirus, visitors are not allowed in the offices and usual measures like hand washing and social distancing are also required to keep employees safe.

Mindtree and Dell in Bengaluru have already had employees positive for COVID-19. RMZ Infinity is now deserted as the majority of the 10,000 staff have chosen to work remotely.

RMZ Corp said that other offices in the premises are aware of the current situation and the company had taken necessary measures like sanitization and fumigation to reduce the risk of employees getting COVID-19.
