The man lives in Kancheepuram and he just got back from Oman. He is now at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital to be taken care of.

After having trouble breathing, as well as coughing and having a fever, the man consulted a doctor and was sent to a hospital in Chennai. When his illness persisted, the man was quarantined in an isolated ward at the RGGGH. His sample was delivered to the National Institute of Virology to test. The result came back on Saturday confirming him having the Coronavirus.

A health official said that eight of his family members and 19 others had been put under strict observation and their samples would soon be collected.

Just a day before the confirmation, C Vijayabaskar, The State Health Minister announced that all 54 samples from Tamil Nadu tested negative for the Coronavirus so there was no case in Tamil Nadu. However, 1,243 citizens are still monitored.

He also said that 300 beds in isolated areas are ready all over Tamil Nadu and if there is a need for it, the number would be increased.

With two more confirmed cases in Ladakh that came out on Saturday, the total Coronavirus cases in India have reached 34. With the pandemic spreading, the best thing you can do now is to take preventative measures like washing your hands regularly and avoid gathering in large numbers.
