Concept Tire From Goodyear Works As Propellers Of A Flying Car

Goodyear has come up with a concept tire that could work for both driving and flying mode of the future car.

One of the predictions for the future is that the flying car will eventually take on the sky and because of that the relationship between car and road would change accordingly.

The tire in flying car's age

In that future of flying car, it seems like that the tire will become obsolete? Goodyear has a different opinion about that: They want to create a tire that works as the propeller for the flying car.

While other companies are looking at the sky to solve the riddle of urban congestion and transportation. Chris Helsel, CTO of Goodyear have mentioned recently that it is Goodyear job to help others make that dream come true. Goodyear is currently working on advancing and improving the material and design of the tire - you want to make a tire that could work on its traditional role and also as a propulsion system for flying car.

Flying-AERO

At the Geneva International Motor Show this Tuesday, Goodyear has unveiled their concept tire with the name AERO.

The main idea of this concept is that AERO will work as a normal traditional tire in driving mode. Then when need to fly, two tires would rotate horizontally with the surface while two remain vertical - kinda like in “Back to the Future 2”

There will be a system of magnetic propulsion in the previously mentioned tires. When the car needs to take off, first the horizontal tires will spin then they will become propeller blades to lift the car to the air, then all 4 tires will transfer to propeller mode.

More technologies

In the show, aside from the technology that will allow AERO to work like a propeller, Goodyear has also introduced many other technologies that they want to incorporate into their tire. Those technologies are such as sensors of fiber optic and processor for artificially intelligent.
