Click to Pray eRosary is a wearable device you can that you can connect to an accompanying phone app activated by drawing across.
With the hope to draw more young people, who generally love technology, to the Catholic Church, the Vatican has launched Click to Pray eRosary, which is a wearable device you can that you can connect to an accompanying phone app activated by drawing across.
Users can wear this device as a bracelet, it has 10 consecutive black agate as well as hematite rosary beads along with a “smart cross” for storing data. When the rosary is activated, the wearer can select to pray between a thematic rosary, a contemplative rosary, or the standard one. The device displays progress through each prayer as well as keeps track of all the rosaries completed.
According to the Vatican, this device is created as a technological tool for people to learn “how to pray the rosary for peace in the world.” The app accompanying this device includes personalized religious content, along with health tracking information obtained from the bracelet. Currently, the device is sold for Rs 7,794.
And as much as people may think that the Vatican is not the most technology-forward establishment in the world, there are a lot of signs indicating the opposite. The church is catching up with new technology, for example, Pope Francis has an Instagram account, and the Vatican is communicating on Telegram and also use the platform to help Catholics in Lent.
In another instance involving the priceless artwork of the Vatican for future generations, it took photographers 65 nights to capture the sistine Chapel by inches to aid in restoration work in the future. This project generated over 27,000 still pictures. And the Vatican rolled out its first app for iPhone users in 2008 so it’s safe to say that the world religion is moving up with technology too.
