While 5G hasn’t been deployed properly, China is already looking to even more advanced technology. On November 6, the country successfully launched the first 6G satellite in the world into orbit.

The launch was aimed to test the technology. The satellite was launched alongside 12 others from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in China.

Named after a major university in China, the satellite will be responsible for testing how the 6G frequency band performs in space. The 6G tech is expected to work 100 times faster than the fifth-generation network that’s already ultra-fast.

The reason for this upgraded performance is that 6G utilizes high-frequency terahertz waves to obtain ultra-fast transmission speeds. Besides, the satellite will carry technology used for disaster monitoring for crops as well as fire prevention for forests.

Is 6G dangerous?

As of now, it’s unclear if the technology being tested will meet all the standards. People already have concerns over the potential dangers of 5G to humans, so it’s not surprising that the fears around 6G will be even more.

Over 125 scientists from 40 countries have appealed to the FCC with the request for considering health risks as well as environmental issues before implementing 5G infrastructure. We can project that several experts will have the same worries about 6G.

Since the appearance of 5G, phone makers have integrated this technology into their smartphones, allowing users to enjoy ultra-fast internet speed in areas where the connectivity is available.
