As reported by India Today, top government sources said:

“The Sindhu Netra has been developed by the DRDO and has been deployed in space successfully by the ISRO rocket launched on Sunday. The capability will allow us to keep an eye on the areas of our interest from the African region to South China Sea.”

Sindhu Netra is among the first ones in a series of satellites that will help India improve its surveillance capabilities in the border areas with Pakistan, the Ladakh region with China, among others.

As the Indian security agencies seek a closer watch on the Chinese military’s activities near the Indian territory and in its depth areas along the 4,000-kilometer LAC, they find it necessary to have 4 to 6 dedicated satellites to help them monitor the adversary’s moves.

The government not only set up the Defense Space Agency but also created a defense space research organization to ensure the ability to protect space assets from the adversaries' attack. The defense forces will also be significantly enhanced in the future.
