Bharti Airtel plans to close down its 3G network in six to seven service areas by September this year and shut down the entire network by 2020.

Indian largest telecom services provider Bharti Airtel is looking to cease operating its 3G network across the country by March 2020. The company said it was going to move its concentration into 4G services. The process has already begun as Airtel wound down its 3G network in the service area of Kolkata last month.

According to the company, the same equipment used for the operation of 3G will then support the extension of 4G services. With this move, the company is expected to increase indoor coverage and augment capacities of 4G network.
