On April Fool’s Day, an ATM thief got a piece of bad luck when he revealed his robbery plan to Delhi policemen by accident. The police department in this city must break into a laugh when seeing the unfortunate guy.
ATMs are always attractive targets of thieves. That's no exception for thieves in Delhi.
That policemen cosplayed as common citizens to investigate cases is not a strange story to anyone. This time, they managed to catch an ATM thief in such a situation.
The bad guy thought the cops were gang members and of course, he unveiled his plan to these fake accomplices without any caution. That’s not all because he also divulged his real name as well as identity.
For those who are wondering what the name of the ATM thief was, he is Aslam. He was accused of using gas cutters and many other tools to reassemble ATMs and steal money. According to the report from Press Trust of India (PTI), the crime location was in the area of Uttam Nagar at around 9 pm.
A policeman from Delhi disguised with a ‘lungi-kurta’ to play a role as a new member and contacted with Aslam on purpose. In the end, Aslam was trapped and said to the man about his secret plan.
After the policeman cross-checked the identify of the ATM thief, he rapidly handcuffed the unlucky man and further said, “April Fool banaya”.
Seven years ago, in 2012, Aslam and his accomplices looted an ATM in Mourya Enclave, Delhi. The robbery ended in failure because the guard opened fire on them and one of Aslam’s gang members was killed. As per the guy, he was also arrested right after that.
Aslam was set free in 2017 and used a variety of names as a way to shield policemen’s eyes and hide his own bad history.
