Thanks to the nationwide lockdown, the air becomes clearer, thus making the Pir Panjal range visible to people living in Srinagar.

The Pir Panjal range is in the inner part of the Himalayan region which runs across Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir, and Jammu. Thanks to the nationwide lockdown, the air becomes clearer, thus making the Pir Panjal range visible to people living in Srinagar.

Waseem Andrabi, a journalist, tweeted some pictures that have a spectacular view of the range on his Twitter account. The photos were taken on April 23 in Srinagar, according to Andrabi.

Pir Panjal is the Lesser Himalayas’ largest range. The range situates near the Sutlej river. On one side, it has the Beas and Ravi rivers while on the other side is the Chenab. The famous Galya mountains are this range as well.

The breathtaking pictures from Andrabi soon went viral online, receiving praise from other Internet users.

Meanwhile, the Dhauladhar range in Himachal Pradesh, which also belongs to the Himalayan chain of mountains, also become visible to people living in Jalandhar, thanks to the improved air quality after the lockdown.

Recent satellite images from NASA show that the Nothern India’s aerosol levels are at a 20-year low as all activities of human has been paused because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A report points out that every year, many Indian cities’ alarming levels of air pollution are the result of aerosols from man-made sources. Aerosols are tiny liquid and solid particles that are trapped in the air. These particles reduce visibility as well as damaging the human heart and lungs.
