Apple has just introduced a new pricing policy for its streaming service. With a price cut of Rs. 21, Apple Music is now available at Rs. 99 per month.
This slash is also applied for its family and student plans, as well as the annual plans. Students can use the service for Rs. 49, Rs. 11 cheaper than the original price. For families, the plans are now Rs. 149 while the old one was Rs. 190. Those who want to subscribe for a year will enjoy a fee of Rs. 999 (the previous price was Rs. 1200). This change has already been applicable for Indian users.

This act form Apple comes down to the arrival of its two biggest rivals in the world. Spotify is one of them. Its subscribers have to pay Rs. 119 per month to get access to its service. They can also go for to-up plans, which are available at Rs. 13 a day. The next in line was YouTube Music making its presence known in India. The new monthly price of Apple Music now is precisely what YouTube asks for its service.
Some other service providers have had a similar move. Gaana and JioSaavn slashed a maximum of 75% off the yearly plans. For Rs. 129, users can have access to JioSaavn Pro for a whole year. The same is true for Gaana with its Plus service. Before this price cut, the plans were Rs. 1,098 and Rs. 999 for Gaana and JioSaavn respectively.
These two local companies are also Apple Music fierce opponents. They have already had a solid standing in Indian with millions of users and growing. Gaana has for itself about 80 million, accounting for about half of the Indian market for music streaming.

India is considered a “sleeping giant” as it ranks second on the list of countries with the largest number of smartphone users. Plus, mobile data plans are getting more budget-friendly. These two combine to great effect leading to millions of new users every month for music streaming service.
