Just recently, the Wenhan Huang family in Milton, Massachusetts, U.S, found a strange object in their backyard. After carefully inspecting this object, it turned out to be an emergency slide from a Boeing plane.
If you don’t know what an airplane’s emergency slide looks like, here’s how it looks:
This is an inflatable slide than can be inflated in less than 10 seconds, normally used in emergency situations where people need to be evacuated. The distance from the aircraft door to the ground is around 1.8 to 2 meters, so it is not safe to jump from that height. It is better to use the slide.
After releasing all the air inside, the slide can be folded small enough to attach it under the door of the aircraft or any place around the emergency area to use when needed.
Back to our main story, a representative from Delta Airlines confirmed that this emergency slide belonged to a flight from Paris (France) to Boston (U.S). How the slide ended up in someone’s backyard is still a mystery.
The Federal Aviation Administration also said that before making a landing, the pilot heard a loud noise but still landed the plane safely without any problems. At the moment, the engineers of Delta Airlines are trying to figure out the cause of this rare incident, thus preventing it from happening again in the future.
Fortunately, the slide didn’t cause any harm to anybody. The only damage that it caused is lots of fallen leaves around the area.
