Realizing the potentials of computer science, Amazon has built a program called Amazon Future Engineer to train kids how to code and programme. The company hopes to inspire about 10 million kids each year.
Every relative cost such as teacher training, summer camps and the like will be paid by the famous American electronic commerce company. Amazon’s purpose is to let even those from poor families participate in the program. Amazon Future Engineer will be open to all people in the world including Hispanic ones, female students or black ones. All of them will have a chance to approach computer science.
Last year, Amazon spent the $50 million for this program to widen the computer science education. In addition, Microsoft and Facebook are among the companies to invest cash to universalize how to code in many schools in the world. That is allegedly a smart strategy of the big companies which always lack the talent programmers, computer engineers, and coders.
The Amazon CEO Jeff Wilke said that he wanted to recruit the graduates from the Amazon Future Engineer program to develop Alexa voice assistant as well as programme delivery drones. Coding will be soon an indispensable skill when more and more companies are applying technology.
Amazon will hold after-school programs and free summer camps for kids in kindergarten in its offices. It is Amazon employees that will teach the kids. Of course, they do of their own accord. Some of Amazon’s partners like Code.org and Coding with Kids will prepare lessons, games and online classes.
Moreover, the company has a plan to support teachers from 2,000 low-income high schools to participate in the online training courses. The incentive like internships and scholarships will be also provided for excellent students. Those who want to take part in the program can access AmazonFutureEngineer.com to register.
At coding classes, students will experience many fun lessons for computer science, for example, designing games. Jennifer Tulipano, who works as a science teacher, shared more and more students desired to comprehend computer science. That’s why his school chose the Amazon program.
