Amazon Created Vests To Protect Workers From Robots In The Warehouse

Now, these vests will allow robots to detect people at a longer distance and actively update to provide the most appropriate way to move.

Perhaps everyone knows that working in Amazon factories is very dangerous because of the devices and robots. Amazon Robotics may have been aware of that when the company's most recent product was able to protect workers there. However, it still creates a pretty weird relationship between humans and robots.

Recently, another solution was offered by the company according to the TechCrunch report. Amazon has come up with vests that are capable of emitting signals to require robots to reduce their speeds when they are approaching workers. This will significantly limit collisions between workers and robots in the warehouse.

Goods are transported by the robots

The vice president of Amazon Robotics, Brad Porter, said to avoid collisions between people and robots in warehouses in the past, workers would mark places where they work and travel so that engineers set up a transport system for robots to move smarter in those areas. Now, these vests will allow robots to detect people at a longer distance and actively update to provide the most appropriate way to move.

The vests will help robots to be more aware of people and avoid them.

In the past, there have been many cases of robots losing control and affecting people around them. For example, last December in New Jersey, a robot had an error and suddenly opened a bear sprayer and injured nearly a dozen people around it.

Maybe this is the reason why the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health has included Amazon in the list of the worst and most dangerous firms in the United States. Evidence shows that since 2013, seven workers have died while working at the company's warehouse.

This shows that the company has a little more attention to their workers, but we still don't know whether it is really effective and helps people be safer while working in Amazon's warehouse.
