Alphabet’s New COVID-19 Screening Website Is Fully Booked Overnight

On March 15, Alphabet’s COVID-19 site screening website called Verily for people living in Silicon Valley went live. And by the next day, it appeared to be fully booked and can’t offer appointments for screenings.

This screening website is only for those who live in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties and think they are having COVID-19 symptoms. Through the site, people can book an appointment for a test. Verily has worked with the California governor’s office as well as other local, state and federal officials to build the “Project Baseline” site.

The site says that if you are experiencing symptoms including fever, severe cough and shortness of breath, you should seek help from professional medical staff. However, if you don’t have these symptoms but still want a test, you can schedule for screening. However, the site is now overloaded and can’t take any appointment.

A message pops up saying users need to come back later but the message only appears after users have already filled out a questionnaire given by the site.

Apparently, you can’t blame Verily for this since all testing locations in the US are now fulled of patients and can’t accept any more appointments.

COVID-19 is still spreading around the world. As days go by, we come across news that worries us a little bit more about this pandemic. There are now over 180,000 confirmed cases with more than 7,000 deaths. The most affected countries are China, Italy, Iran, South Korea, Germany, France, and the US. India has 119 cases with 2 deaths.
