The alcoholic monkey bite more than 250 people in Mirzapur district, one of them died because of the attack
Ever heard of monkey being given life sentence? Well India just has the first of such case with a monkey sentenced to spend the rest of its life behind bars in Kanpur zoo.
The animal is called Kalua and it is native to Mirzapur district. The crime it has committed is to bite more than 250 people in the area, one of them died because of the attack.

Kalua used to be the pet of an occultist who often gave him liquor. After that, the animal got addicted to alcohol. However, when the former owner passed away and the monkey’s supply of liquor is no more, it became aggressive.
When he created terror in the area by attacking humans, zoo and forest personnel were called to stop him. It took them quite a while to capture the monkey and brought him to the Kanpur zoo.
According to Mohd Nasir, the zoo’s vet, Kalua was kept in isolation for a few months and then transferred to a separate cage but his behavior show no changes and he is as aggressive as when they caught him.

Kalua has been in the zoo for three years and the aggressiveness shows no sign of changing, so the zoo came to a hard decision to keep him in captivity for the rest of his life, as stated by doctor Mohd Nasir.
The monkey is six years old now and the vet said if he was freed, he would keep attacking humans whenever he had the chance. Even after three years in the zoo, Kalua has not showed any friendly gestures to his cage keeper.
