Instead Of Abusing Animals, The Circus Roncalli Chooses To Use Holograms

Ravi Adwani

From Germany, Circus Roncalli is the first circus that uses animal holograms to entertain their audience, not by abusing the animals.

As our world continues to develop with advanced technological growth, it’s a must for companies and businesses to adapt and ready for changes to survive. Things become even more serious for firms with harmful, abusive methods of doing things.

Circus Roncalli

Here, we’re about to visit a European circus that has succeeded in using a technological breakthrough in their business. The one we’re mentioning is the Circus Roncalli in Berlin, Germany. In fact, this is a very prestigious circus, founded in 1976, having its name inspired by the movie script "Sarah Roncalli, daughter of the moon". Therefore, it might treat the animals carefully as far as we concern.

Nonetheless, that’s not the case everywhere else. Circuses in the world might be abusing their animals right now, which is an unacceptable act. For Circus Roncalli, they probably are the pioneer to stand up and fight for the animals.

Animal Holograms

In 2018, the circus installed Optoma, a Taiwanese projector brand to create something unique. They introduced to the world the first ever circus that acts entirely using animal holograms. The circus used a traditional tent with a big top as a venue for their shows.

How they did it

Circus Roncalli used the computers to design and generate the animals as well as their animations. In fact, every animal has a real-life size and able to do everything they used to do. From the clowns, the acrobats to the trained animals, everything was perfectly animated.

Take a closer look at how the technology works in Circus Roncalli here:

The team at Roncalli used a total of 11 projectors to set up the show. Additionally, they put lenses and lasers to the work and provide impressive viewing angles of 360-degree, in a 32m-wide arena. Needless to say, the guests loved it, even those that actually witnessed the original Roncalli show.

All in all, this is a perfect adaptation of technology to prevent animal cruelty as well as an entertaining show for the audience. Clearly, this is a win-win situation.
