India And China Top The List Of Countries With The Most Internet Users

Mary Meeker's 2019 report on internet trends suggests that India and China are the two countries with the most internet users.

Mary Meeker, a famous venture capital investors and co-founder of Bond Capital, published her vaunted 2019 internet trends report.

The report, which consists of more than 300 slides, anteceded a conference in Arizona this week.

Meeker, while being a former Wall Street analyst and Morgan Stanley employee, is famous for dedicating most of her time since 1995 to be an internet expert on internet trends and technology. Since her report is too meticulous to read all with a total of 333 slides touching on everything from this year's internet statistics to future's prediction, we will give you some of the most notable takeaways.

As of now, more than 50% of the global population has access to the internet. A big part of them come from leading countries namely China and India. Railing behind is the United States. 4th and 5th places go to Indonesia and Brazil respectively.

Since last week, 7/10 companies with the most valuable market capital are tech giants like Facebook, Apple, Alphabet, Microsoft, and Amazon. Among 30 valuable companies, seven are China-based.

The time people spent on mobile devices as well as TV is slightly similar, with 33% of their time on mobile and 34% on TV.

307 million Indians are using the most popular carrier in the country Reliance Jio. In 2018, Jio's yearly data used reached nearly 17 EB (1 EB equals 1018 byte).

Worldwide usage of monthly internet data nearly six folds from 21 EB to 122 EB now.

The world has 6% more gamers only during last year, partly due to new-emerging games like Fortnite.

More grown Americans are endeavoring to restrict their smartphone usage. It's now 63%, an increase from 2017's 47%.
