Last time, we showed you 10 fun experiments that you can try at home (with a lot of safety cautions of course). And today, we will show you 16 tricks and experiments you can do with water. These experiments mostly require things that you can get right from your home and they are simple too.

Experiment 1

You need: dry-wipe markers, a dish or small tray with a smooth surface, and some water.

Step 1: Draw something on the surface.

Step 2: Slowly pour water into the dish, not directly on your drawing. You will see the drawing move slightly and eventually float on the surface of the water. You can also use this trick to print something on your hand, instead of drawing it directly on the skin.

The drawing will float on the water

Experiment 2

You need: a glass bottle, sparkling water, a hammer, and something to contain the mess.

Step 1: Put some sparkling water into the bottle.

Step 2: Slam the hammer on the bottle strong enough to cause the bottle and the water inside to move.

Step 3: Do it a few times and the bottom of the bottle will come off.

The bottom of the bottle will come off

Experiment 3

You need: an empty can, a big glass bowl,

Step 1: Put cold water into the bowl.

Step 2: Boil some water using an electric kettle. When the kettle begins to release steam, put the hole on the can exactly over the spout on the kettle.

Step 3: Wait for some time then immediately drop the can into the bowl of cold water.

Fill the can with steam them drop it in cold water

Experiment 4

You need: a frying pan and some cold water.

Step 1: Put the pan on a stove, wait until it’s really hot.

Step 2: Pour a little water onto it and see the droplets dance.

The water drops will dance on the hot pan

Experiment 5

You need: a glass, a piece of paper.

Step 1: Pour some water to almost fill the glass.

Step 2: Put the piece of paper over the cup so that it doesn’t let water out. Flip the glass up-side-down while holding the paper tight.

Step 3: Hold the glass still and slowly remove the paper.

The water won't come out

Experiment 6

You need: A plastic tube, a piece of cloth.

Step 1: Rub the cloth around and along the tube, quickly and strongly.

Step 2: Open the faucet only to let a small flow of water come out. Slowly move the tube nearer and nearer to the water flow.

The water flow bends

Experiment 7

You need: a plastic bottle.

Step 1: Fill the bottle with water.

Step 2: Put the bottle above a fire flame, don’t let the fire touch the bottom of the bottle. The water will boil without the bottle melting.

The water will boil and the bottle won't melt

Experiment 8

You need: two glasses and a fiber string.

Step 1: Pour some water into one glass, put the other one on the table.

Step 2: Put one end of the string in the water, the other end in the other glass.

Step 2: Slowly tilt the water-filled glass, the water will follow the string into the other glass.

The water will follow the string to the other glass

Experiment 9

You need: a plastic box, a ball, a thread to hang the ball.

Step 1: Stick one end of the string to the bottom of the box and the other to the ball.

Step 1: Place the box upside-down, slide the box from left to right and vice versa. When you slide the box to the left, the ball will move in the opposite direction, and similarly when you slide the box to the right.

Step 2: Fill the box with water and slide it again from left to right and vice versa. Now the ball will move in the same direction that you slide the box.

The ball will move in opposite directions in two cases

Experiment 10

You need: a glass, some absorbent

Step 1: Put some absorbent in the glass.

Step 2: Pour water into the glass.

See what happens when you pour water onto absorbent

Experiment 11

You need: a water pipe, a foam ball.

Step 1: Place or hold the water pipe so that the water from the pipe will flow up straight.

Step 2: Put or drop the ball on in the water flow, the flow will push the ball to the top and hold it there.

The ball won't fall

Experiment 12

You need: a coin, a water dropper.

Place the coin on a surface and drop the droplets of water on the coin, one by one. Count to see how much water the coin can hold.

How many water drops can the coin hold?

Experiment 13

You need: a plastic bag, pencils.

Step 1: Fill the bag with water.

Step 2: Penetrate the pencils through from one side to the other side of the bag. You will see that the water hardly comes out of the bag.

No water comes out

Experiment 14

You need: a number of glasses with the same size, the same number of cups but in a small size enough to put inside the first batch of glasses.

Step 1: Place the larger glasses side by side to form a straight line. Half-fill them with water.

Step 2: Fill the smaller glasses will watercolor. Then put them on the line of larger glasses so that under each small glass is two large ones.

Step 3: Push the first small glass into the second one, quickly and strongly. Then watch the result.

This is how you need to place the glasses in this experiment

Experiment 15

You need: a loudspeaker, a water pipe connected with the faucet, and an app that allows you to play sounds at different frequencies.

Step 1: Stick the pipe to the loudspeaker like this. Open the faucet so that water runs through the pipe.

Step 2: Connect the loudspeaker to your phone and open the app, adjust the frequency to see the effect.

The water dances

Experiment 16

You need: a glass, a piece of plastic that fit the glass, and a piece of paper.

Step 1: Fill the glass with water.

Step 2: Wet the piece of paper and plastic, put the piece of plastic on it.

Step 3: Put the piece of paper over the glass so that the piece of plastic covers the glass.

Step 4: Flip the glass upside-down and slowly remove the piece of paper. The piece of plastic will stay and no water will come out.

Once again, the water won't come out
