For quite some time, PUBG has taken India by storm and has been a controversial topic. Many said it is the cause of teenagers’ smartphone addiction and a number of tragic deaths and accidents. However, there has been no evidence to back this opinion.
1. Self-harm
Earlier in January, a fitness trainer from Jammu was brought to a psychiatric hospital after he started hurting himself. The case was the sixth one in the state. For the reason, doctors suggest that it might be related to his gaming addiction. He had been playing the game near-nonstop for 10 days straight. One day, after playing one round, he began hitting and injuring himself and was rushed to the hospital.
2. Missing a school year
After a year of playing PUBG, a youngster in Pune reportedly became so addicted that he began to skip school so that he could continue playing. The result was that he missed an entire school year.
3. Suicide when being stopped from playing
A 17-year-old boy in Jind, Haryana killed himself after his phone was taken away by his mother for being too engrossed in the game. Although he had already passed exams for class X the previous year, he skipped the whole year to play PUBG. His mother took away his phone after she found him play PUBG secretly on the rooftop. The next day, the boy was found dead in his room, hanging himself.

4. Suicide when denied an expensive phone
An 18-year-old boy in Mumbai after not getting a Rs 37,000 phone to play PUBG committed suicide. He hung himself from the kitchen’s ceiling fan at his house.
5. Distracted and killed in a train accident
Earlier this year, two Maharashtra men were playing the game when being hit by a train. The two were playing the game near the Hingloi district’s railway tracks. Being two distracted, both were mowed down when a train passed by.

6. Drinking acid instead of water
A 25-year-old in Madhya Pradesh was playing the game when he felt thirsty. So he reached for a drink without looking away from the screen. He then grabbed a bottle of acid instead of water, drinking a whole lot of it before even realized what was happening. He was admitted to the hospital. The boy suffered serious injuries. But lucky for him, he survived.
7. Playing till you drop
A 16-year-old in Neemuch, Madhya Pradesh played PUBG for six hours straight. After losing a match, he complained that his head hurt and fell unconscious. He was rushed to the hospital. The doctor didn’t succeed in reviving him. According to the doctors, his death may be the result of a cardiac arrest due to a prolonged gaming session.

8. Nerve damage from bad posture
A 20-year-old in Jagitial, Telangana died after playing PUBG for 45 consecutive days. He was then admitted to a medical facility in Hyderabad. But he died while receiving treatment. The doctors’ theory was that the nerves in his neck might be damaged after the boy bent it to play PUBG on his phone for so many hours.
9. Killing a brother
A 15-year-old in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra killed his own brother after being scolded for being too engrossed in the game. The boy became so angry that he slammed the brother’s head into the wall and used a pair of scissors to repeatedly stabbed him.
10. Killing his own father to play PUBG in peace
A 25-year-old in Karnataka reportedly killed his father for “peace of mind.” The guy had been regularly fighting with his 65-year-old father over his PUBG addiction. One day, during an argument, the boy became too angry, he chopped off his father’s legs and head.
11. Killing the whole family
A 19-year-old man in Delhi killed his whole family after being nagged about spending too much time on PUBG. He killed his parent and his sister late at night and ransacked the house to make it look like there was a robbery.
