The End of Narcos: There’s So Much More to Tell

Netflix hit a homerun with Narcos. The series was so popular that it even inspired NetEnt to base a video slot game on it. The game doesn’t contain any spoilers, so claiming one of the Best Indian Casino Bonuses and trying the Narcos slot game won’t ruin the viewing experience.

Columbian Drug Cartels

The first three seasons of Narcos tell the riveting story of the Columbian drug cartels and law enforcement’s struggle to bring them to justice. We also get keen insight into the corruption that infected the highest levels of the Columbian government. We first see the violent rise and fall of Pablo Escobar and the Medellin cartel. In the opinion of Tony Sloterman, product owner of Casino Bonus Finder, actor Wagner Moura was brilliant in his portrayal of the Columbian cartel boss. Back then, Escobar was the guy to see if you wanted to purchase tons of cocaine. Of course, getting involved with Escobar came with a significantly higher level of risk.

The series then chronicles the decline of the powerful and savvy Cali cartel. While they referred to themselves as the Gentlemen of Cali, they were every bit as ruthless as their Medellin counterparts. Like Escobar, things didn’t end well for the Cali cartel as the DEA and Columbian authorities finally prevailed. The final scene of season three gives viewers a hint that the series will shift its focus to Mexico. And that’s exactly what happened.

Mexican Cartels take Center Stage

Three seasons of Narcos: Mexico generally unfolds over the same time frame as the first three seasons of Narcos. We even see interactions between the Mexican drug lords and some of the main Columbian players from the first three seasons. Seasons one and two of Narcos: Mexico take us through the reign of cartel boss Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo and the rise of the infamous El Chapo. Make no mistake, the Mexican cartels were just as, if not more brutal and corrupt than the Columbian cartels. The vicious torture and killing of DEA agent Kiki Camarena clearly illustrate this.

Much of the third and final season of Narcos: Mexico focuses on the legendary Amado Carrillo Fuentes. But it also follows El Chapo as he emerges as the Sinaloa cartel’s top dog. The series concludes with El Chapo sitting in prison after his arrest in 1993. As you may or may not know, the story of El Chapo does not end there. Narcos: Mexico leaves a lot of loose ends and leaves the door wide open for further seasons. El Chapo’s escape and subsequent life on the run, along with El Mayo’s rise, are just two of the many interesting storylines that could be pursued.

It Looks Like the End of the Road

Alas, it’s not to be. Showrunner Carlo Bernard recently confirmed that there are no plans to continue the show. However, rumor has it that Sofia Vergara is slated to portray Griselda Blanco, who was known as the Black Widow and is believed to have had ties with Pablo Escobar and the Medellin cartel. If this is true, and the team behind Narcos and Narcos: Mexico is on board, then this could be the next best thing to a seventh season of the Netflix smash hit. Stay tuned for updates.
